BREAKING: Southern California Region under stay-at-home order starting Sunday night

UPDATE: State Delays Start of Stay at Home Order Restrictions to 11:59 p.m. Sunday 
A Regional Stay at Home Order for the Southern California Region was issued today, Saturday, December 5. The State has delayed the start of the Stay at Home Order restrictions to 11:59 p.m. Sunday, December 6.
The Order is a result of the Southern California Region's Intensive Care Unit (ICU) bed capacity falling below 15%. ICU Bed availability is now 12.5% in the Southern California Region. The current ICU capacity in Orange County is 18.1%.


Restrictions of the Regional Stay at Home Order Now Take Effect at 11:59 p.m. Sunday, December 6.
The Order Will Remain in Effect for at Least 3 Weeks.
After 3 weeks, it will be lifted when a region’s projected ICU capacity meets or exceeds 15%. This will continue to be assessed on a weekly basis after the initial 3 week period. Learn more about the Regional Stay at Home Order HERE.


The Following Restrictions Take Effect as of 11:59 p.m. Sunday, December 6:
  • No gatherings with those outside your household
  • No non-essential travel
  • Closure of restaurants for indoor or outdoor dining – only takeout will be allowed
  • Closure of bars, wineries, breweries, distilleries
  • Closure of nail, hair salons, barbers, other personal care services
  • Closure of indoor and outdoor playgrounds
  • Closure of indoor recreation facilities
  • Closure of museums, zoos, aquariums
  • Closure of family entertainment centers
  • Closure of cardrooms
  • No theme parks/amusement parks
  • No live audience sports

Allowed to Stay Open Under Regional Stay at Home Order With Masks and Physical Distancing:
  • Non-urgent healthcare, including dentists, optometrist
  • Schools already open
  • Childcare and Pre-K
  • Stores and shopping centers at 20% capacity with entrance metering and no eating or drinking
  • Offices: remote except for critical operations where remote is not possible
  • Churches, temples, mosques: outdoor only
  • Critical infrastructure and services (water, power, government)
  • Parks, trails, beaches, other outdoor recreation
